Step 1...

The first of three media texts we were asked to create was an album cover. We were given the freedom to use any album, any concept and any style that we desired, and we're encouraged to follow specific guidelines to get some initial ideas.

Originally, we were asked to follow a 3-Step-Program, to give us a very basic chance to work on the album cover, without having to spend our time on the creative concept process.

After following the instructions that lead to a randomised image, I ended up with this...

For my first piece, my random wikipedia article was 'Wolfe Tone Weekly', so I immedietly had some animal imagery in my head and created this image through using live trace in Illustrator, converting the image back on to Photoshop and using symmetry and colour contrasts for my text. The idea was very basic and not very interesting, but I liked the black and white contrasts and the simplicity.

My second piece of practice, my wikipedia page was 'streetlight' and my image was of a man walking through the snow. I changed the image to grayscale and chose a futuristic/retro font, which I affiliated with the word and the image. It looked like a 80's pop record. The hardest part of this piece of work, was putting the text above the black border and making it transparent.
